How To Draw A Beach

Step 1

Going to the beach is perfectly fine, but to make your beach trip the best, you’ll probably want to pack some beach essentials and accessories to make it even more fun!

We’ll start this beach drawing guide by drawing some accessories to complete this scene. These accessories include a beach chair and a parasol.

Let’s start with the chair first. The chair’s structure is drawn using a few thin and straight shapes. Next, use slightly curved lines for the chair fabric.

Drawing the frame can be a bit tricky. So try to copy it as it looks in our reference image.

The umbrella is mounted on a long, straight pole, allowing you to use curved lines for the umbrella fabric. Then, we can proceed to step 2!

Step 2

You’ve got some accessories for this beach art outing, and now we can start adding the beach itself to this beach design!

First, draw a straight horizontal line for the image horizon. This allows you to represent the water on the beach using a wavy line that runs from the horizon to the bottom of the picture.

We then drew some bushes on the shore with smaller irregular lines to create the shapes.

These bushes are nearing the top of the parasol, and once they’re drawn, we can move on to step 3!

Step 3

This third step of our How to Draw a Beach guide will show you how to add more details and elements to the beach scene you have worked on.

First, draw curved lines above the horizon line for some distant hills. Next, we’ll draw more curved lines parallel to the lines you used for the waves on the beach.

Finally, let’s add another classic beach accessory! Draw a beach ball next to the chair using a circle with some lines, and then you are ready for step 4.

Step 4

Another classic element of any beach scene would be beautiful palm trees, and we will start adding some of them in this fourth part of your beach drawing.

First, draw some curved lines for the trunk of the palm tree.

This starts on the right side of the image and is curved enough to show the weight of the shaft end, causing it to bend.

Finally, use some curved lines ending in sharp points to depict the large leaves at the end of the stem.

Then, it’s time to refine and touch up a few final details in the next step of the guide!

Step 5

This fifth step of our how-to Draw a Beach guide consists of adding some final details and elements.

First, draw more large leaves onto the palm tree you just started.

Next, complete this step by drawing more palm leaves side by side, and then draw some line art on the lounge chair fabric.

Once those final details are completed, you’re ready for the final step of the guide! Before proceeding with this step, you can also add some interesting details.

It’s all about showcasing your perfect beach destination. So be sure to show us what you would bring to make this beach perfect!

Step 6

Now you’re ready for some colours to complete this awesome beach design you’ve worked so hard on! We have shown you some colours in our reference picture that you can choose.

We used many nice bright colours to give it a nice tropical vibe. However, you can opt for all possible colour variations!

Colouring also allows you to play with different artistic mediums depending on what kind of colours you want.

We recommend watercolours for a softer, more relaxed image, but mediums such as acrylics suit more vibrant colours.
